6. William Lay is an economist and post-graduate at College of Europe, and Director of COFACE.
   
   COFACE promotes the family dimension of EU policies, programmes and initiatives. Under the European Progress programme, his activities mainly focus on family as well as on the mutual learning between family organisations.
   
   Most of these policies are addressed from the persepctive of the fight against poverty and social exclusion and the prevention of them.
   
   Mr Lay has been director of COFACE since 1983.
