Marina Rupp, Dr. rer. pol., born in 1958 studied sociology at the University of Bamberg, Germany. After completion of her studies she gained experience in information technologies and taught computer skills to students.
She started working as a researcher at the Research Unit for the Social Sciences at Bamberg University. In 1999 she completed her doctoral thesis that focused on the development of partnerships in relation to certain couple constellations like homogamy or heterogamy. In 1999 she started working as a researcher at the State Institute of Family Research with dissemination of scientific information and public relations as her primary areas of responsibility. In 2001 she was promoted to become the Vice Director of the Institute, a position she has held since January 1st, 2002.
Marina fulfils a multitude of tasks at the Institute, which includes administration, supervising projects conducted by the Institute and heading the staff of 20 people. The issues she has been working on are wide-ranging, i.e. questions related to pregnancy, the paths to parenthood, divorce, as well as gay and lesbian families and large families.
