Dr. Kimmo Jokinen is the head of the Family Research Centre at the University of Jyväskylä. He was educated at the University of Jyväskylä, where he obtained Ph.D. degree in 1997, and became docent (adjunct professor) in general sociology in 2002. He has had several research and teaching positions at the university and in the Academy of Finland. His research interests have focused on family studies (recently complex and challenging family relations and emotional security in these relations), cultural studies, children and the media, and school and youth.
He is currently the head of the Graduate School for Family Studies, funded by the Ministry of Education and the Academy of Finland, the leader of the research project Children’s emotional security in multiple family relations, funded by the Academy of Finland. He is also a member of the Executive Board of the European Society on Family Relations (ESFR), and the editorial board of Family Science.
