The London School of Economics and Political Science is the world’s leading social science institution for teaching and research, with an academic profile spanning a wide range of disciplines, from Economics, International Relations, Government and Law, to Sociology, Geography and the Environment and Accounting and Finance. Teaching and research are conducted through 18 departments and 26 research centres and institutes, with students drawn from more than 130 countries worldwide. It participates in, and leads, numerous European Commission-funded projects, as well as those funded by national and international organisations. The Department of Media and Communications was founded in 2003. It teaches four master’s programmes and undertakes multimethod research at the interface between social and technological change, critically addressing the key issues in the emerging digital world in ways that can be communicated to academic, industrial and governmental audiences. Role within FAMILYPLATFORM: The Department of Media and Communications is responsible for Existential Field 8: Family, Media, and Family Education.
