    Abstract: This expert report provides an overview of the studies on transitions of young people into parenthood. It includes recent statistical data, a discussion on theoretical frameworks for transitions, and a discussion on reasons for discrepancies between the desired number of children in Europe and actual fertility rates, noting that "Today more children are born in the countries with the most advanced social systems with regard to gender equality".
